Is "Wake on LAN" possible across the Internet?
I'd like to be able to use the "Wake on LAN" function to turn on my work PC from home, and then use PC Anywhere to work on it remotely.
I've tested "Wake on LAN" using the AMD "Magic Packets" program with both computers on a local network (connected via a Broadband router) and the PC does turn on, however it does not turn on across the internet. I tested that by disconnecting the "home" PC from the router, and connecting to the internet via dial up.
Ultimately, the work PC will be behind a broadband router, as well as my home PC. Both PCs are running Win XP Pro/SP2.
If this is possible, and is there any "Port forwarding" (in the router) involved, or does that only apply to Windows programs?
Thank you.
